What’s your MOMENTUM? Sennheiser showcases the world’s most unique and inspiring sound stories
Old Lyme, CT, April 9, 2014 – Some people seem to move ahead of others. They have a certain drive, a fire that lets them go further. They do what others don’t do, and what nobody else has done before. For Sennheiser, these people have MOMENTUM. Together with Spotify, the audio specialist will introduce 100 sound stories from all over the world. Sennheiser will present videos that showcase the life and work of some of the world’s most inspirational people, sharing their projects and unique achievements and inviting others to share their own stories.
Legendary human beatbox EKLIPS, sound artists Nik Novak and Di Mainstone and Imogen Heap, pioneer in innovative music – they all have MOMENTUM. Working with unique people like this, Sennheiser, together with Spotify, tells the stories of a hugely diverse range of inspirational people. The audio specialist will be following a group of 100 people who have a passion and connection to sound in order to learn more about their lives and own personal MOMENTUM. These individuals are constantly pushing the boundaries – going beyond the ordinary, reaching for new heights that are yet to be discovered. This spirit, this commitment to the core to create something that is unique and has uncompromising authenticity and substance is what Sennheiser seeks to celebrate and discover over the course of the MOMENTUM project.
As well as showing amazing stories of creativity and determination from around the world, Sennheiser is also asking viewers to share their own MOMENTUM. They are invited to join the social video project by contributing their own stories in the form of seven-second videos. They can add these to other videos with the same theme or idea – building “video chains” of inspiration that carry their own MOMENTUM. Sennheiser will recognize the most compelling videos and ideas submitted with prizes, including fantastic trips to London, New York and Tokyo that will offer the ultimate sound experiences. Users will also get a chance to win pairs of Sennheiser MOMENTUM headphones and six-month subscriptions to Spotify Premium.
They have MOMENTUM – People that inspire
People with MOMENTUM can come from any background. They see opportunities, take chances, and make things work, finding inspiration in a unique worldview and creating sound in a completely new or different way.
Legendary human beatbox EKLIPS has MOMENTUM, challenging Eminem’s record by rapping 105 words in 16 seconds. Nik Nowak has MOMENTUM. He is the creator of the “Sound Panzer”, a caterpillar-tracked tank that the Berlin-based artist converted into a powerful bass monster. Di Mainstone has MOMENTUM, turning the Brooklyn Bridge into a giant harp, allowing anyone to manipulate the sounds created by the natural ebb and flow of the bridge’s cables through movement. Imogen Heap has MOMENTUM. Through unique wearable technology – the Mi.Mu glove – she forms electronic music through the movements of the human body, becoming one with the machine in the act of creation.
These people are individuals, but they have one thing in common. They push the world ahead with MOMENTUM. It is the spirit of these individuals that Sennheiser seeks to celebrate over the course of the project. On www.sennheiser-momentum.com you can watch their videos, follow their journey and learn about their incredible projects.
“Embarking on the MOMENTUM project, we have been astounded by the passion, energy and vision of the people we met and have been working with,” said Uwe Greunke, Director Strategic Marketing at Sennheiser. “We see so many incredible stories out there and we are convinced that there are many more. This is why we are asking “What’s your MOMENTUM?“ – inviting people to check out the films and upload their own short videos to showcase their creativity.”
Share your MOMENTUM to win
MOMENTUM is already building, with a range of inspirational personalities joining the project including the inventor of the sustainable smartphone Dave Hakkens; Swedish metal sensation Amarathe; and Demon He, the founder of innovative Chinese radio station TangSuan.
“We would like to see these stories connect and interrelate, so we want people to add their stories to those on our website, creating video chains and forming an organic, self-perpetuating celebration of human ingenuity,” explains Uwe Cremering, Head of Global Marketing Communications.
Sennheiser is inviting anyone to share their MOMENTUM by contributing their own videos. How does it work? The starting point is to visit www.sennheiser-momentum.com and watch the MOMENTUM videos. People can vote for their favourite stories and add their own seven-second MOMENTUM film to a video chain that inspired them, or that shares the same themes or ideas as their own submission. To take part in the MOMENTUM project, videos can be uploaded between April 2, 2014 and July 31, 2014. And for those that really do feel they have MOMENTUM, there is even the option to start new chains.
Hear New York, London or Tokyo like never before
Experience a live gig in your hotel room. Win a meet & greet with a top artist. See a star at work in the recording studio. For the inspirational people whose videos generate the best or longest chains, their MOMENTUM really will take them further. Along with a friend, they will win an incredible city trip with flights and hotels included and the opportunity to experience a fantastic sound or music event. Additionally, those who inspire the most successful chains, the creators of the most successful videos, and the people that vote over ten times in a week will all enter a prize draw. Lucky winners will receive a pair of MOMENTUM headphones, Sennheiser’s premium range that fuses uncompromising sound performance with the highest-quality materials, as well as six months of Spotify Premium.
